Paul Lohnes is a bilingual financial professional with experience in the private, non-profit and public sectors. He is currently Director, Finance and Administration with CATALIS Québec (Recherche Clinique Québec).  Paul was chief executive of the Canadian Audit & Accountability Foundation, a research and education not-for-profit in Ottawa. His previous positions include Vice-President Inspections and Human Resources at the Canadian Public Accountability Board, Director of Auditing Standards at the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (now CPA Canada), and Audit Partner with KPMG in Montreal and The Netherlands.

Paul’s involvement with ME has been as a loving caregiver to his wife, Christiane Garcia, who has been seriously ill with ME for 40 years. Paul was Co-President of l’Association Québécoise de L’Encéphalomyélite Myalgique (AQEM) from 2019 to 2022. He provided administrative and moral support to the ICanCME patient group in 2019 and assisted with the CIHR research proposal. Paul commends Dr. Alain Moreau for spearheading a remarkable collaborative effort to bring researchers, clinicians, and patients together to discover how to diagnose and treat ME.
